Dog Days Art Show at Art Uptown

Art Uptown on lower Main Street, Sarasota, has issued a call for artists for its inaugural Dog Days Art Show to be hung at the gallery during August. The juried show runs from Aug 1. to Aug. 27. An opening reception is scheduled for First Friday, Aug. 7, 6-9 p.m., at the gallery at 1367 Main St.

The gallery, Sarasota’s oldest cooperative fine art gallery, represents the work of 28 area artists, which will also be exhibited during the Dog Days show. Art Uptown has been continuously exhibiting work of its members for over 27 years. Hours are Monday-Friday 11-5 and Saturday 10-4.

Applications for new artist members are being accepted at the gallery, according to Barrington DeMers, Art Uptown president. Also available are website memberships for artists to display their work in the online gallery, www.artuptown.com, and be represented by the gallery’s professional staff, DeMers noted.
