December 11, 2009 - Sarasota, FL The 11th Annual Thunder By the Bay Motorcycle Festival continues to rev up a great time raising money for The Florida Center for Child and Family Development.
The weekend begins with a casual “Born To Be Wild” Kickoff Party Friday night at Michaels on East. Saturday continues with a “Bikes, Bands & BBQ” Event at Payne Park in Downtown Sarasota offering FREE admission to all who attend. The day will feature vendor and demo displays, live music, great food, and the ever-popular Clydesdales. On Sunday the day begins with a Motorcycle Poker Run beginning at Centennial Park by the Bayfront between 9 am 11 am, ending with a bike show and downtown Festival on Main Street featuring lots of motorcycles, food, vendors, and live entertainment. This year during Festival on Saturday and Sunday, riders can test drive a new Harley-Davidson by visiting the Dealer Demo Truck down directly from Milwaukee, WI.
To date, over $650,000 has been raised from this annual event to help local children and families in the Sarasota area. The Florida Center is a non-profit agency offering screenings and therapy services (speech, physical and occupational) for children with special needs, grief support groups for children, infant/young child mental healthy therapy, early childhood education, outreach services for Hispanic families, a healthy families program to prevent child abuse and neglect, family counseling, parent education classes, child welfare case management, and a
Fetal Alcohol Diagnostic Assessment and Intervention Clinic.
