Carreno Dance Festival of Stars

A spectacular climax to the Carreno Dance Festival's Summer Intensive Workshop, being held from August 4th through the 27th, will be presented at 5 pm on Saturday, August 27th at the Sarasota Opera House.  Jose Manuel Carreno, world renowned principal dancer of American Ballet Theatre, will partner Sarah Lane, of American Ballet Theatre and dancing double for Natalie Portman in the film Black Swan, in the Black Swan pas de deux.  Sarah Lane will also be partnered by principal dancer Joaquin de Luz of New York City Ballet as se assumes the role of the White Swan.

Other guest performances include the work of the prominent contemporary dancers, Jacoby & Pronk, and Melanie Hamrick of American Ballet Theatre.  The pre-professional students of the Summer Intensive Workshop who include medalists from Youth America Grand Prix will share the stage with the guest artists.  Tickets for the Festival of Stars at $50, $35 and $15 are available online from sarasotaopera.org/carreno2.aspx, or by calling the Opera Box Office at 941 328-1300.
