Hope Springs Eternal – Shopping for a Cause

Local artists, an author, breast cancer survivors and advocates will team up for “Hope Springs Eternal,” a shopping for a cause Open House on Thursday, May 20th at Hearts Desire in the Village of the Arts, Bradenton to support Making Strides Against Breast Cancer the American Cancer Society’s premier annual fundraising event. Vicki Rollo, Hearts Desire owner and jewelry designer, Sandy Norton, artist and entrepreneur of Sunshine Everyday t-shirts, Linda McDonald, three-time cancer survivor and author along with Bambi Famous Kaine, breast cancer survivor and Event Chair for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer are joining forces to create an exciting fundraising event for area ladies to enjoy. Hearts Desire will be open from
3 – 8 pm for ladies to relax, network, enjoy light food fare, sip wine and shop for a cause. The “Pinky Promise”® bag by Beijo, the Miche “Hope” interchangeable purse, Hope Everyday t-shirts, rose quartz jewelry, other “pink” related items and a copy of Dancing Cancer will be raffled off. All items will be available for sale as well.

The bamboo garden will be open behind the shop, where Linda McDonald will sell and sign copies of her book, Dancing Cancer, which describes her life as a three-time cancer survivor. Linda will also provide information about LeBed dance therapy for lymphadema. Beth Christopher, a representative with the “very pink” Mary Kay, will offer complimentary moisture treatments with “Satin Hands” with the product also
being available for purchase.

A portion of all clothing and accessory sales from “Hope Springs Eternal” will benefit the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer to help raise funds for research, education, advocacy and patient services here in our Sarasota/Manatee community. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a 5K family walk and celebration of survivors, which will be held Saturday, October 23, 2010 at the Sarasota Polo Grounds in Lakewood Ranch. www.cancer.org 1-800-ACS-2345
