Event Description

Workshop with Jeff Hanna of The Rhythm Inlet. No experience needed, all levels welcome! Adults, motivated teens, youth w/ permission. Bembe is an Afro-Cuban rhythm form of Yoruban heritage. This workshop is suitable for all levels. Beginners will appreciate the simplicity in the rhythms. Experienced students will appreciate the opportunity to explore the polymetric 6/8 aspects to this piece. Congas and other hand-drums, then claves, bells, woodblocks, and shakers fill out the sounds of this ensemble. Instruments provided, available for purchase, or b.y.o..
