Chant. The very word elicits pictures. For many, that picture is of robed monks, kneeling, deep in thoughtful prayer. But, that's just the Western world's take on merely one type of chant. Nearly every belief structure has its own version of intoning the word, by whatever name it is known and for whatever purpose it serves. In addition, chant has influenced many composers and we will perform chant influenced works by von Bingen, Duruflé, Tavener, Gjeilo, Lauridsen, and others.

This program of all-faith’s sacred music investigates chant and chant-inspired works of all types, eras and belief systems in an immersive experience sure to engage the audience.
