New College 2012 Gala Honoring President Dr. Gordon E. “Mike” Michalson

Please join us to honor our much-beloved “Dr. “Mike” who will be stepping down in June after 11 years as president. At his retirement, he will have served as chief administrative officer of New College for 16 of the past 20 years, including five years as dean and warden (1992-1997), while the College was still part of the University of South Florida. During his tenure, New College became an independent member of the State University System and one of the most highly ranked public undergraduate schools in the nation. The “Dr. Mike years” have been marked by substantial growth of the student body and a major investment in new academic facilities, including two state-of-the-art science buildings, five “green” dormitories, a Public Archaeology Lab, Black Box Theater, and most recently, the new, as-yet unnamed Academic Center. We thank Dr. Michalson for the outstanding educational legacy he has created, keeping New College at the forefront of higher education.
