The fourth annual “Sharing the Scholarship” art lecture series by New College students in collaboration with the Ringling Museum Library features women artists through the ages and 20th-century American artists on Mondays from 3:30 – 5 pm, March 7 through April 11 (except March 21). All lectures are free and open to the public and will take place in the Ringling Museum Johnson-Blalock Education Center, room 1003-1004. Lecture Schedule: March 7 — Adelaide Labille-Guiard, one of the few women elected to the National Academy in Paris, 19th-century photographer Margaret Cameron and sisters Frances and Margaret Macdonald, who represent the Glasgow branch of Art Nouveau; March 14 — sculptor Louise Nevelson and two female surrealists, Frida Kahlo and Remedios Varo; March 28 — the feminist art of Audrey Flack and Kiki Smith; April 4 — the idiosyncratic visions of Charles Burchfield and Philip Guston; and April 11 —James Turrell, whose work with light is about to be shown in a new permanent Ringling Museum Skyspace installation in the Searing Wing, and Edward Hopper.
