Winner of the 2009 Plieades Press contest, Kevin Clark’s book Self-Portrait with Expletives appears in the Lena-Miles Wever Todd Poetry Series, distributed by LSU Press. His first collection, In the Evening of No Warning (New Issues Press), earned a grant from the Academy of American Poets. He’s published three chapbooks and won the Angoff Award from The Literary Review. His poetry has appeared in journals such as the Georgia, Iowa, and Antioch reviews, Crazyhorse, Ploughshares, Gulf Coast, The New York and Denver quarterlies. A semi-regular critic for the Georgia Review, he’s also published essays in The Iowa Review, Papers on Language and Literature, Contemporary Literary Criticism, The Southern Review, and Poetry International. Kevin teaches at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, where he won the Distinguished Teaching Award, and at the Rainier Writing Workshop in Tacoma. Pearson Longman publishes his poetry writing textbook, The Mind’s Eye. He lives with his wife Amy Hewes on California’s central coast, where he continues to play rec league softball "despite legs like ancient concrete and more injuries than Evel Knievel."
