The Glenridge Performing Arts Center (7333 Scotland Way,
Sarasota) is proud to present, Ring Sarasota, produced by GPAC - Saturday, April 13th at 8:00
p.m.
Now in its third season, Ring Sarasota handbell ensemble presents concerts that
appeal to one and all. The 14 auditioned advanced handbell ringers hail from New
Port Richey to Sarasota and perform a wide variety of music ranging from
classical literature by George Bizet and Mussorgsky, a taste of Americana, a
tribute to the Armed Forces to other original compositions written specifically for
handbells.
This season’s concerts include the movement Jupiter – The Bringer of Jollity from
The Planets by Gustav Holst, which was transcribed for handbells by Ring Sarasota’s director
Rick Holdsworth and soon to be published by From the Top Music.
Ring Sarasota utilizes five octaves of Malmark Handbells and four and a half octaves of
Malmark Choirchimes. Through a generous donation, the group was able to start their second
season with a newly purchased five octave set of Malmark Handbells and three octave set of
Malmark Choirchimes.
The group finished its second season with a recording session and now has their first CD ready.
