Event Description

Originally conceived as a bi-annual event, the 2009 debut was so successful that the Festival returns in 2010 for a second consecutive year with several world premieres.
Under artistic direction of BAC, more than 100 artists from around the world will perform at the multi-venue Ringling Center for the Arts and its center stage, The Historic Asolo Theater. Over the course of the five-day festival there is also non-stop excitement with activities morning, day and night around the historic grounds and gardens of the 66-acre Museum that overlooks the bayfront. The program includes special events, exhibitions, as well as tours of the Museum of Art with its collection of Old Master paintings among the rarest in the United States, as well as modern and contemporary art, Circus Museum with the world’s largest miniature circus and spectacular Ca d’Zan, one of the last of the historic Gilded Age mansions in the U.S.

The 11 shows and 45 stage productions of theatre, music, and dance include productions/performances by: Mikhail Baryshnikov, Tim Fain, Kate Davis, Andrew Dawson, John Jasperse, Forman Brothers Theatre, Rubberbandance, Nilo Cruz, Sanda & the Takeishis, Les Slovaks Dance Collective and The Theater Art Studio.
