In an unprecedented show of support to help raise money and awareness for Oak Park School in Sarasota, Fla., and Phelan-McDermid Syndrome (also known as 22q13 deletion), a rare genetic condition that affects local resident Sammy Lomas, 16-year old son of one of the area’s top Masters runners, Rich Lomas, legendary U.S. Marathoner and multiple American and world record holder Bill Rodgers is joining local runners and racers for Sammy’s Run on May 29, 2010. Sammy’s Run includes three events, including a 5K race, 1 mile fun run and kids dashes for special needs individuals.
Prior to race day, Rodgers will be making a number of public appearances as a source of inspiration and encouragement as well as autograph sessions. These include a special VIP lunch at Gecko's on Hillview May 27th and autograph sessions at New Balance Sarasota on Stickney Point Road and US 41 on May 28th.
