A favorite on the GPAC stage, Michael Lasser returns with another evening of music and musing on great songs from the movies. Since The Jazz Singer, the first sound picture that matters, music and the movies have been inseparable. That means composers of romantic scores like Dmitri Tiomkin and John Williams, but mainly it means songs – an evening chock full of unforgettable tunes from “Blue Skies” to “Singin’ in the Rain” to “Cheek to Cheek,” as well as songs about the movies, from “Hooray for Hollywood” to “You Oughta Be in Pictures.” The songs provide their own melodic history of the movies.
