It's about time someone made a movie about multi-level marketing scams. Director Tze Chun's film "Children of Invention" is an excellent film. Chun said the inspiration for his film came from his own experiences accompanying his mother to different pyramid seminars from age 8 to age 14. The fun parties to occupy children while parents were given the pitch were a part of his reality. His mother also had a bit part in this film about the attempt to find a shortcut to the American Dream.
The two children in the film who had to find inventive ways to survive
on their own for a few days were cast only after auditioning 250 children from New York City schools. The choice to cast Michael Chen and Crystal Chiu was obviously the right one.
