The Latest Shoe Styles This Season
As fall and winter approaches, fashion mavens go on their yearly search for substantial, yet fashionable, footwear. The good news is that winter 2009 shoes hold the promise of being warm and snug while still allowing you to step out in style. Whether you prefer a stylish boot or a shoe with a lighter feel, there’s a shoe style to meet your needs this winter. Here are some of the hottest shoe trends for this season.
Boots are big
What would winter be without boots? This winter, the above the knee boot will make its appearance in both leather and soft suede. These boots are not only fashion forward but offer the opportunity to take heavier summertime dresses and skirts into the winter months. This winter’s dramatically long boots can also be worn over slim pants or tights. At the other extreme, you’ll find the shoe boot or ankle boot making its debut. This little boot is best described as a cross between a shoe and boot and is frequently seen fur lined and with wedge heels. This distinctive shoe trend coordinates nicely with slim pants or leggings. If you don’t like the extremes of the above the knee boot or the ankle boot, the knee length boot will hang on to its universal popularity.
Lace ups
Dramatic lace up shoes will be popular as winter arrives. These aren’t your typical granny boots of yesteryear but are sleekly sculpted, high fashion foot coverings with dramatic high heels, often crafted with finishes such as patent leather. You’ll see lace ups in bright, vivid colors to add a splash of interest to the typical dark colors worn during the winter months. Although these shoe take some additional time to tie up, many women will think the final effect is worth every minute of it.
A variety of toes
The toes of winter shoes are anything but ordinary. During winter 2009, you’ll see the reemergence of the square toed shoe that was once so popular. At the other extreme, the pointed toe will also be an important look for winter. The pointed tips of 2009 winter shoes aren’t subtle nor are they particularly comfortable. But, hey, anything for the sake of fashion! At least you choices as to which type of toe you prefer to wear this year.
A touch of the wild
Animal print shoes make a bold fashion statement this winter with snakeskin and crocodile skin shoes (often mock) seen dressing up dramatic wide leg pants and skirts. A single pair of animal print shoes can give a monochromatic winter fashion ensemble a bold and stylish flavor that’s sure to attract attention.
Heel trends
Look for the continuation of wedge heels which will reach greater heights even more drama when crafted of mock animal skins and brightly colored patent leather or satin. The stiletto, although not the most practical and comfortable of shoes, will add a touch of sexiness to winter skirts and dresses. If heels aren’t for you, the ballet flat will maintain its popularity and will be found in a variety of new colors and fabrics including satin. Grab a pair or two when your feet need a break from those stilettos!
Shoe trends for this season are decidedly bold and are guaranteed to dress up even your most sedate winter fashion attire.
