We have been waiting 7 weeks and they have finally arrived

I know you are wondering what an earth I am talking about, but all will be revealed. Every day for the last 42 days we have been watching and waiting as we have returned to the boat as a pair of swans have been taking it in turns to sit on a clutch of eggs. We had no idea how many eggs the average Pen (female) swan lays but after researching the number varies between 3 and 8.

The female does most of the laying while the cob (male) goes on feeding trips to keep them both in top form. The gestation period is round about 36 days give or take and as you will see from the picture below they are now the proud parents of 5 beautiful cygnets and are being taken care of very well.

We will be keeping you posted on the progress of our local swan family with more pictures as they grow. Check out
