The audience at the Historic Asolo Theater was in stitches during the improv performance of TJ and Dave. The characters of men at a divorce support group were only developed after they walked on stage. From Chicago, TJ and Dave have been performing together for 7 years. The characters they play will never be utilized again, making for a truly spontaneous and creative experience each time you see them. Following the performance, TJ and Dave answered questions from the audience, which included a large group of local improv students anxious to hear the secrets of TJ and Dave's success. The winning formula, as in all relationships, is to pause, quiet self, listen to the other person and truly pay attention to everything.
It was a delight to see this duo in action, up close and personal. A documentary about the improv artists will be shown at the festival this week. Don't miss "Trust Us: This Is All Made Up." The director of the film, Alex Karpvosky ("The Hole Story"and "Woodpecker") is also present at the film festival this week. So if you missed the chance to see them last night, you still have a chance to see a 50 minute performance on film combined with an inside look at their lives. The film will be followed by a Q&A. See the film Wednesday, April 1 @ 9:30pm and Thursday, April 2 @ 4:15pm.
