The gift certificates were pouring in - from all over the country and in various amounts - some as little as $5.00 - with beautiful and caring messages.  I began to suspect that there was something very special going on.   I became very familiar with the name “Carrie” and was impressed by how many thoughtful friends she had.  When Carrie called to redeem  her gift certificates, I commented to her about her supportive network of friends - and then the real story unfolded.

As President of 4women.com, I get to connect with many wonderful people and hear many incredible stories of love.   This latest altruistic act of kindness to which I am witness is worth sharing.

It turns out that Carrie was not the one in need of the beaubeau scarves - it was for her dear friend’s precious 8-year-old daughter (Kayla), who was diagnosed with a rare brain disorder.  Little Kayla was facing surgery that required her head to be shaved.  How devastating for a little girl!  Kayla took this in stride and even donated her beautiful hair to Lock’s of Love.  Kayla’s Mom didn’t want Kayla to be the only bald beauty in the house and so had Kayla ceremoniously shave her head too. Two bald beauties in need of head coverings.  Enter- Carrie and the power of Facebook!

Carrie set up two Facebook events to try and raise money to help Kayla and her Mom purchase beautiful head scarves during this difficult time - Push for Kayla and Head Scarf Benefit.  The most beautiful part of this story is how perfect strangers responded - yes - beautiful people who wanted to be sure that Kayla and her Mom would feel pretty and special during this time.

I’m happy to report that thanks to the efforts of Carrie and the generosity of so many Facebook fans, Kayla and her Mom are receiving 10 beaubeau scarves today. 4women.com has donated one as well.  If you want to help Kayla and her Mom, please visit Push for Kayla or Head Scarf Benefit.

Carrie, you are a true 4Women.com heroine.  I just love this story and am spreading the word just as fast as I can.  Thanks for sharing this with me.  It truly made my day.
