CANCER STINKS !! ( LIKE MY CAMERA SKILLS)

Cancer stinks,yep it sure does, hardly makes you want to break into a song and dance routine.

We even avoid mentioning the word, we politely ignore it in much the same way we do when someone has the temerity to fart in the elevator ! (OMG ! did she just write fart, yep, sure did). The stink is there, right under our noses, but what's this ? A sudden mass outbreak of blocked sinuses !

When we finally do gird our loins and stammer out the cancer word, it is in hushed and muted tones. Why? No one ever won a battle by whispering and stammering like some shrinking violet.

We need to shout out loud and LAUGH in it's face. Which dear friends is exactly what I was doing last weekend, so much for British reserve. I laughed so much I said a quick prayer to the God of bladders that my super strength incontinenece pads would cope. They did, just.

I laughed until my mascara ran, ( note to self, be sure to fire off less than pleasant email to manufacturers, waterproof my rear end).

In fact I laughed and leaked so much I found myself dehydrated, and an urgent (medicinal) visit to the bar was required, well a couple actually,although math was never my forte.

Moving on then,why can we not utter the dreaded "C" word ? I know Miss, I know ,it is because we fear if we even allude to it then we too may get it .

HELLO PEOPLE ! I have been saying a million dollars for years now, and guess what, nothing, rien, nada, zilch !! In fact by now I should be on some island,( my own of course), having my every whim catered to by a posse of men, clad in the minimum of clothes, and whose pecs and bronzed loins, oops limbs, would make Adonnis look like Shrek.

Let's get to the point.

I had a wonderful life changing moment, which has led to me helping to raise money for the Moffitt Cancer Center. I had the incredible good luck, yes I did say luck, to meet with 2 amazing men, Bob and Bob, who persuaded me to donate a pair of sunglasses to a Chinese auction, all proceeds to go to the MCC. The auction was held at The Players Theatre, the venue of the show. They also asked ( very nicely ) if I would be prepared to sell some bracelets, for just $1. No problem I say. Never one to settle for runner up, I set about my task with the dedication I used to reserve for shoe shopping !

The result was I sold the most and have now been given the rest to sell. STOP, don't all run for the hills, they are only $1.

They are inscribed with the words, Got A Minute, as that was the name of the show put on to raise still further money.It was this very production that had me laughing until I feared permanant bodily damage. All those ( too many to mention) gave of their time and skills freely and it was a glorious celebration of LIFE !

I now find I am passionate about this charity, to think a bad day for me used to be a broken nail, or worse, chipped polish. (yes I know, I too was once shallow )

So ladies for your delectation I am going to keep my shop EYEART open until 9.30 pm on Sept 9th. The bracelets will be available to purchase, as will the cancer stinks T-shirts. The world is your oyster, think customisation here, mine will say Cancer stinks and so does the price of those Jimmy Choos !

To further entice you, I will be holding a raffle for a simply, "must have" pair of sunglasses. Now don't say that isn't tempting.The sale and raffle will run continuously for 1 week. All you need to do is just stroll through the doors of Eyeart and of course buy a bracelet.In fact why not buy a T-shirt too ($10.00) after all it's a great cause.

Finally, if you look at the (admittedly very poor) photo you will see I have pictured the bracelets in a way that symbolises the spirit of the Olympics.

I had a very specific reason for doing this.

The 5 rings stand for , Passion, Faith, Victory, Work ethic and Sportsmanship. I am passsionate about the cause, I have the faith as do all those,

who either have or know someone with cancer, that the battle will be won. The fight for health, is the greatest victory possible. So come on, be a good sport, come see me next week and give a dollar, (or more ) You have my personal guarantee that every single cent will go to the M.C.C. Plus one of you will win those much coveted sunglasses !! I will be running the raffle for a week.
