We’re gearing up for Selection Sunday March 11th, 2012 and, if you are involved in an office bracket like I am, you know that Sunday signifies the official start of March Madness!! I’m the organizer of the brackets in my office pool – The ‘Bracket Mistress’ –  and this year I am bound and determined to come out on top. I am offically declaring that I want UNC-Asheville to live up to the hype and win it all because I am NOT a Syracuse fan. A group of us diehard March Madness fans are planning on spending Selection Sunday and most of the games after that seated at the community at Lee Roy Selmon’s with fellow sports fans.

Lee Roy Selmon’s understands that college basketball and especially March Madness is an exhilirating and social sporting event that must be celebrated. I’ve gone to www.docsports.com and printed copies of their bracket and the six of us are going to hunker down and make our predictions while enjoying selections from Lee Roy Selmon’s Brisketball menu.  The March Mania Buzzer Beater is a really good deal:  a brisket sandwich with fries and a bud light draft for only $8.99 but I tend to go with the Championship Chicken Sandwich and a specialty cocktail. My favorite is The Playmaker which is Bacardi "O" rum, Sauza tequila, Gran Marnier liqueur, Sour, Simple syrup, Grapefruit and Cranberry juices it’s only $5.99 and it’s perfect fuel for my March Madness fire.

Starting after Selection Sunday on March 12th every time we go in we get a game card from our server and we are challenged to pick the winner of two matchups. If you accurately predict both winners you score a free All-American Cheeseburger and one out of two nabs you a Smokin’ Quesadilla. We have done a sidebar contest in the past to see who can win the most free food and I have yet to win that one either.

I finally understood my boyfriend's obsession with fantasy football last year when I discovered that I was not the only closet college basketball fan in my office. We are a group of women who love sports and and love the comraderie (and rivalry) inherent in any tournament-style event. We're lucky to have a venue like Lee Roy Selmon's where we can embrace our inner sports fan in a clean, comfortable environment with delicious food and drinks.
