Penelope Ann Miller, Oscar nominee and star of this year’s Oscar winning Best Picture, The Artist, will attend The Sarasota Film Festival. Ms. Miller receives the 2012 Career Tribute on April 20th at the Sarasota Film Festival Filmmaker’s Luncheon hosted at the Sarasota Yacht Club. Her film Think of Me will play at this year’s festival. This will be Ms. Miller’s second visit to the Festival, having previously been a guest during the first year of the SFF. Ms. Miller will also participate in The Conversation Series on April 21st at Sarasota High School.
Other new additions to the confirmed list of celebrities attending the festival include Jordan Gelber (Dark Horse), Jena Malone (In Our Nature) and Jess Weixler (Somebody Up There Likes Me). Each guest will participate in Q&A sessions after their respective screenings.
In addition, The SFF has announced details of a FREE Conversation in Manatee County as part of the SFF@SCF program. In Conversation With Women In Film explores the work of women whose films are shaping today’s cinema. Join our esteemed panel as they discuss their experiences in the film industry, discuss models for collaboration and examine the creativity that women bring to a wide range of roles in the film industry. This discussion takes place on Friday, April 20 at 5:30 PM at The Neel Performing Arts Center on the campus of The State College of Florida. Panelists include Debra Zimmerman (Executive Director, Women Make Movies), Ingrid Veninger (Director, I Am A Good Person/ I Am A Bad Person), with other panelists to be announced soon at Sarasotafilmfestival.com.
