Anytime I watch an awards show, I always LOVE watching the hair, make-up, and fashion trends. I take what I see and try to apply it to my clients at the salon. Sometimes when I see a particular color or cut a client will pop in my head and I have to go and jot down notes so I can inform my client of a new haircut or color I think will look good on them One of the most common question I get from clients is, "What's in style now? Keep me hip, I don't want to look matronly!" So, what's in style you ask? Here's what I saw on the Peoples Choice Awards the other night.

Like I mentioned before in a previous blog the "Lob", which is a longer version of a bob, was all over the red carpet. In 2009 the bob and inverted bob was one the hottest haircuts, if you didn't have it you probably knew someone who did. This is an easy haircut to convert to if you have a bob or a shorter haircut. The ideal length is either right at the shoulder or right below, depending on your face shape.

I also saw a lot of loose waves and soft looking hair. Whether the hair was down in loose cascading waves or up in a chignon it was soft, not too many sleek and severe looks that night. I love that this is hot right now because its great for all ages. Young girls can layer up their long hair and either let it dry naturally (if they have natural waves) or curl it with a curling iron to get that Taylor Swift looking hair. This is also great for women of all ages because keeping the hair on the shorter side with layers allows you to also let it dry naturally (if you have natural waves) or pop some hot rollers in your hair while your putting your makeup on in the morning. The curl give you softness around the face and nice added body, which we all wish we had.

As far as color goes, it seemed to me that the brunettes were a bit darker and richer with a nice gloss on the hair. And the blondes were nice and bright as always but in a natural looking way. They were platinum they were a nice buttery color. Keep your hair color looking natural and shiny by visiting your hairdresser every 4-6 weeks for your touch up and about 3-5 months for highlights or lowlights. You can always pop in at The Hair Color Center-The Gulf Gate Salon and get a shine treatment for only $25.

When looking for a new hair color or haircut its always fun to watch T.V. or pick up a People and see what's hot and apply it to yourself! Always remember, How you feel about your hair is about 85% of how you feel about yourself- when you hate your hair you don’t like much of anything else with yourself, when you LOVE your hair it makes you feel confident and ready to take on the day!

You are so right about that 4 to 6 weeks hair touch up its make a world of difference. When my hair starts looking dull I know I am long over due. And yes it makes you feel like you can take on the world. That is my biggest issue with myself. If my hair isn't exactly how I think it should look ( Bad Hair Day) than I don't feel like I look good but when all the hair falls in the right place, Look Out! LOL
