The Main Bar Sandwich Shop is the epitome of perfection, plain and simple.  There’s no fancy verbage or whimsical picture I could paint with words to properly portray how great this place is.  It’s a landmark, it’s a haven, it’s comfort food.  You won’t find smoke screens or mirrors trying to convey authenticity, because authenticity is served up along side a hot sandwich and pickle spear.  The Main Bar boasts a very meat and potatoes style menu.  Everything is straight forward and to the point; honest and humble sandwiches that taste just like you want them to.  What really makes a great place to eat is the story that drips from the walls and onto your plate.  Established in 1958, the Main Bar has been a local hot spot since it’s inception by retired circus performers.    When it was sold in 1972, everything was kept in tact down to the pictures on the wall!  It truly commemorates the rich circus history that is so deeply rooted in the shores of Sarasota.

The classic reuben is delicious and couldn’t be more spot on.  Toasted rye bread and corned beer that melts in your mouth had me salivating while I ate it.  The menu contains a plethora of classics with meats ranging from turkey, to smoked ham, to roast beef.  Hot sandwiches, cold sandwiches, wraps, clubs, and a muffuletta to boot that I’m dying to try.  It’s rare to find a sandwich that speaks to you, but at the Main Bar they talk for days!
