Film buffs, filmmakers and party lovers galore came out in droves for the Sarasota Film Festival’s Cinema Tropicale Celebration at the Sarasota Yacht Club.
The newly transformed Sarasota Yacht Club was the perfect venue with its expansive beautiful new clubhouse and breath-taking water views. The stunning pool area hosted Latin music and hooping performers featured in the festival film, The Hooping Life.
The tropical theme continued with a delicious array of island food like fish tacos, conch fritters and scallop ceviche. While guest mingled, filmmakers were interviewed on site.
The Wednesday night event of the Sarasota Film Festival is always one of the most well- attended, bringing out many locals who really miss out otherwise by never stepping foot inside a theatre. The event, formerly a celebration of World Cinema, recognized Florida filmmakers this year. Over twenty films in this year’s festival are Florida-based, with many of the filmmakers on hand. The magnificent setting of the Sarasota Yacht Club certainly gave visiting filmmakers a glimpse of the on-screen beauty Sarasota has to offer. Event planners take note; the formerly dated club is now a gorgeous arena.
