Hello everyone!
My name is Kim Snyder and I just wanted to remind everyone that lives in the City of Sarasota to be sure to vote for your City Commissioner on Tuesday, March 8!
My husband, Shannon Snyder, is running for the District 3 seat. He has recently retired from 25 years in law enforcement...and WOW...is this political stuff intense!
Over the years, Shannon has been placed in leadership positions in the city, some of which include:
I have grown up in Sarasota and have lived in the City of Sarasota for almost 23 years - and until my husband I began this journey together - I honestly never really understood the importance of a vote.
I have learned that in the last city elections that a very small percentage (like 21% or so???) of the registered voters in the city actually voted! This means that the person running for the City Commission seat at the time only needed (around) 1,200 votes to win! It still amazes me...I think about those that fought so hard (and in some countries, they still do) for our right to vote...yet only 1 out of 5 of us that could vote actually did cast a vote during the last City election. (Please don't quote me on the percentages...I know the numbers were low, but I do not know the exact number)
So, as Shannon's wife - I would like to ask that you vote for my husband. He has the most qualifications out of the others running against him. Shannon is very knowledgeable, has been asked to sit on several boards - and is a man of great integrity.
As an American citizen, I would like to ask you to vote. I have come to believe that everything begins on the city level...these may not be the elections that get all the attention...but I personally feel that the foundation of our county laws, state laws and national laws all begin from our city leadership.
If you live in the City of Sarasota - please VOTE ON MARCH 8! Early voting begins Tuesday, February 22. Make a difference.
Vote for Shannon Snyder, City of Sarasota, District 3.
