Skin care products are very personal - naturally, given skin is personal. When I find something I like, I tend to stick with it. From time to time, I am asked to try different products and am always willing to do that because I am always looking for natural and safe skin care products to share with women who are undergoing chemotherapy or any woman who simply wants chemical-free and natural skin care products.
I was recently contacted by Suki, President of “Suki Skin Care Products” when she wanted to review my beaubeaus for a blog series she was doing on great products for women undergoing cancer treatment. I hadn’t heard of Suki Skin Care but learned that Suki’s products are the “first and ONLY synthetic-free solution that truly integrates advanced technology with clinically-proven results.” I was intrigued so I decided to give her complete skin regimen a try, and what better time to test skin care products billed as “compatible to work in unison with the body’s natural biological processes” then when I was undergoing surgery? I brought my Suki Skin Care samples with me to Philadelphia (left my own skincare favorites behind) and used the Suki products daily for almost 4 weeks.
Anyone that has spent any length of time in a hospital knows how delightful it is to receive your first sponge bath. You’ve been in ICU for a day or two and once in your own room, your mind becomes preoccupied with getting some bathing attention. After my first sponge bath, when the nurse was about to use a hospital brand moisturizer on me, I stopped her and pointed to my Suki products - all lined up and ready to go. The first product I tried is called “Velvet Moisturizing Cream,” which is made from organic florals and shea butter. The product lived up to its name. It felt heavenly and left my skin feeling nourished and hydrated. I continued to use it on my hands, arms, and feet for my entire stay in the hospital. It felt like a daily treat.
I really got into Suki products during my recovery. I’m not a fan of products that require more than one application, but I decided to give Suki’s 4 step regimen a try. I began with her moisture-rich cleansing lotion, made with organic lemon and sage extracts. The refreshing scent was delightful and left my skin feeling clean and refreshed. I followed with a spray toner, made with shitake and olive leaf extracts. Let’s just say - I LOVE IT. I could carry this with me everywhere. I just close my eyes and enjoy the most refreshing and rejuvenating sensation I’ve ever gotten from a toner. Say goodbye to the cottonballs, this spray toner is definitely the way to go.
I followed up with the Balancing Day Lotion, to complete the skin pampering. I also tried the Intensive Nourishing Cream and Masque. The samples were enough for almost a 4-week trial. By the time the products ran out, my skin felt as though it had been on an extended vacation, rather than medical recuperation.
Suki Skin Care steers clear of all the dangerous ingredients that plague the skin care industry. Instead, Suki products are rich in organic ingredients such as lavender, rose, natural beeswax, rice bran, apricot, green tea… and the list goes on. It’s a garden delight, and it’s made to make you feel whole, beautiful, and healthy. I thank Suki for the opportunity to send my skin on a spa-like vacation while the rest of me underwent medical intervention.
