For a Tight Budget

When you’re living on a tight budget, clothes are items that you probably can’t afford to buy in large amounts. In the world of today, where appearances say a thousand words, it’s hard to do without new outfits. But it’s not all about how many new clothes you can buy on your clothing allowance; it’s about how to make anything you do buy look stylish.

Buy What Suits You
Always buy what you feel good in, even if it’s not what everyone else would wear. There’s no point in buying something that looks great, but you never wear. When you find something that really suits you, you’ll wear it with confidence which makes anything look good.

Don’t Impulse Shop
Before you buy, always try on clothes and check them out in a mirror. Is the color, size and feeling right for you? If the answer is no or even maybe, put the item back. When you can’t buy many clothes, each piece you buy counts. Don’t buy something just because it looks good at first glance.

Don’t Diet Shop
Don’t buy clothes to “diet into”. It is possible to adjust big clothes so that they can fit a smaller person, but it is impossible to make a small garment fit a big person. Buy what fits you now. If you get thinner later, a needle and thread can do wonders.

Be Prudent When Buying The Latest Fashions
The latest fashion doesn’t last very long—maybe until the end of the season or the end of the year at most. Buying classic pieces means your clothes last longer.

Buy More Tops Than Bottoms
People notice new tops more than they notice new jeans. A new shirt can give an old pair of jeans a new outlook on life. When you have to make a choice between a new pair of pants and a new shirt, go for the shirt. T-shirts often go for astoundingly cheap prices, so when you see a good bargain, go for it!

Accessories Go A Long Way
A brooch or necklace can make a tired outfit look different. This is a situation when a little does makes a big difference.

Match Differently
Some people think that certain colors such as black and white should always go together. Try to mix different colors with each other. The results may surprise you—and get you a new outfit.

If you’re like most women, you’ll probably never be able to buy “enough” clothes. Learn how to work with the clothes you do have, and you’ll look like you have hundreds of outfits up your sleeve.
