Admission is free to the public and everyone is welcome. Mel Stauffers Historic Sarasota Will be on display and we will be accepting donations for his series to be accepted into the new Sarasota Museum Of Art to open next year and will be housed in the old Sarasota High school. Mel actually graduated from the school in the 1940's so we think that it is a display that needs to find its home in the history of Sarasota section. We have three major contributors for the cause but every little bit helps. The series of twelve large relief paintings include Sarasota scenes of the old train depot, the end of main street in 1899(now Marina Jack) the Lido Casino ( now Lido Pavilion) Ringling Towers and many other forgotten Landmarks.

We are happy to bring these wonderful works to you at Edfish Gallery we strive to feature new and exciting art every month hope to see you at our new showroom at 3315 Webber street in Sarasota call 706-2659 or visit our site edfishgallery.imeem.com for more info.

Our special guest artist is Linda Thompson,
Linda is a Member of the National oil and acrylic society and the society of animal artists. after moving to Sarasota in 1973 pursuing a career in commercial art and illustration fell in love with water and marine animals that are a part of the gulf coast landscape. the world that Linda creates has opened the door for Linda to importance of maintaining our oceans for the future. her work is published with mill pond press.
The vibrantly realistic paintings of Linda Thompson are an exciting blend of her artistic talents, keen powers of observation and genuine concern for her subjects, often depicted from the perspective of the animals. Poignant, powerful, her paintings are chapters of nature's ever-unfolding story, told with the loving eye of an artist who blends artistic talents with keen observation. The natural world is a constant source of inspiration for Linda. From marine mammals to a pile of sleeping wolf pups, capturing the unforgettable realism is her goal. Working in acrylics, Linda hopes that her work will connect the viewer with the essence of the animal
