You would think after a day of debauchery at the Suncoast Wine Festival that my tastebuds would be satiated. Instead, I shamefully admit I awakened the next morning to a long-standing dilemma--how do I satisfy my undying thirst for good food without sacrificing taste and still lose the couple of pounds I historically gain at food events. Then I recalled hearing the news that my favorite lunchtime chef, Scott Nuss of Simon's Coffee House, is selling his raw food delicacies at the new Siesta Key Organic Farmer's Market on Sundays. Next thing you know, I was bounding out of bed and down the street for a bit of calorie-burning cardio before I head to the farmer's market. Once there, I was thrilled to see the long-awaited market operating in full force. Although I was struck with tunnelvision--my eyes only focused towards Scott's Eat For Health booth, I was glad to glimpse other restauranteurs, like another favorite, the Sun Garden Cafe serving their wares. However, I needed to prove I still had some modicum of self-restraint so I stayed on course to Eat For Health where all restraint ended. I was able to justify buying one of almost all Scott's featured dishes since I knew I would be eating low-fat, low-calorie, virginally pure, tasty and healthy all at the same time. Back home, I luxuriated throughout a Sunday sampling the concoctions of ingredients I would never in my lifetime dream to combine--like a marinated salad with apples, radishes, and cucumbers, a bean-less mexican dip that would fool any bean dip lover made from sundried tomato, avocado, and walnuts, burgers made from zucchini, carrots, walnuts, and miso, and cookies made from dehydrated pumpkin and nuts. My dilemma was solved.
