The opening of Mozaic Restaurant after a long wait proves that some things are worth waiting for! It's a rarity that I eat at a local restaurant and can't wait to return the very next night. It's the kind of restaurant that I'm in search of when traveling, yet yearn for in Sarasota. Well, now it's here. The menu is chef-inspired reflecting a mozaic of cultures. Each bite is to be savored. On one visit, the Chilean Sea Bass was recommended. Proving the wiseness of listening to the recommendations of management, the Sea Bass which was layered on top of a homemade herb pappardelle with a beurre blanc sauce made from tomatoes and anchovies was the best I've ever tasted.
It's not just the food that has a big city feel, so does the atmosphere -you know, like one of those great neighborhood restaurants in NYC or Boston. The decor is also a mozaic of bright colors with a contemporary ambiance. Yet The tables are close enough to tempt conversation with your neighbors comparing exclamatory notes about what everyone ordered. I seem to run into someone I know each time I visit...or maybe, it's just that the staff makes you feel so welcome.
I've eaten at Mozaic half a dozen times now, and each time was seamlessly divine. For a restaurant to have the kinks removed prior to opening is a rare occurence, but Mozaic made the mark. One word of caution, Mozaic is not a quick in and out restaurant. This restaurant knows the food is meant to be savored, so service, although very attentive, is relaxed. But, don't worry; once you're there, you won't want to leave! Just make sure you spare the time to enjoy every morsel.
