The particulars on this lovely jeweled binding follow: Francois Villon; Illustrated by Lucien and Esther Pissarro. LES BALLADES DE MAISTRE FRANCOIS VILLON. London: Eragny Press and issued by Hacon & Ricketts, 1900. Originally, one of an edition limited to 226 copies. Small 8vo. 92 pp. Wood-engraved illustration in black-and-white with a border printed in black and red on p.3, by Lucien Pissarro, 38 wood-engraved initials in red, designed by Lucien and engraved by Esther Pissarro. Bound in full goat with goat doublures and marbled flyleaves, tooled in gilt with colored onlays, each cover accented with twenty two sapphire, ruby, turquoise, citrine and moonstone cabochons. A beautiful and one-of-a-kind copy in this custom binding.
