I remember the early years of the film festival when seats were empty and directors solicited people to fill the theatre for their film. But times have changed. These days, virtually every theatre is filled to capacity. The full theatres mean good news for more than just the filmmakers. Popular demand is resulting in additional screenings being added for some of the sold-out films. So if there is a “sold out” film you’d like to see or a film just doesn’t meet your schedule, check again. WQmag will post updates on this site as we’re informed. When you’re at the festival, be sure to check the boards at the Hollywood 20 for updates. New films are also being added to the festival schedule.
Here are the latest updates to the schedule:
Hot Coffee – Tuesday, April 12 @1:15pm
Submarine – Wednesday, April 13 @ 8:00pm
Another Earth – Thursday, April 14 @ 7:15pm
How to Die in Oregon – Friday, April 15 @ 12:15pm
SRQ Shorts – Sunday, April 17 @ 11:00 am
More tickets are now available for Buck, Thursday, April 14 @ 7:00pm
and To.Get.Her, Thursday, April 14 @ 5:00pm.
One of the many opportunities you don’t want to miss at this year’s festival is the screening of Happy New Year. Director and producer K. Lorrel Manning and lead Actor and producer Michael Cuomo will be present for both screenings of their film. Cuomo gives an outstanding performance in the fictional story of a disabled veteran returning home from the war, only to fight even more difficult battles within himself. Each screening of this important film will be followed by panel discussions.
Screenings of Happy New Year and panel discussions:
Tuesday, April 12, 2011 @ 5:30pm – Dr. Richard Swier, President of the Sarasota County Veterans Commission, Linda Craig, Executive Director of Manasota Operation Troop Support and Christopher Neloms, two-tour Veteran and Veteran Mentor with the Manasota Operation Troop Support will join the filmmakers for this panel discussion.
Wednesday, April 13, 2011 @ 6:00pm -- Andy Hooker, Vietnam Veteran and Vice President of the Sarasota County Veterans Commission and Corinne McClung, a young female coast guard veteran will join the filmmakers for this panel.
