Metropolis 2012
The first of Jack Alexander's megacity architectural models will be on display at the Brevard Art Museum in Melbourne, FL from May 15 - July 12, 2009. This city complex design utilizes a museum-provided "take out" container to depict a first-of-its kind, self-sustainable, 1-mile square, eco-architectural urban model that uses solar energy, vertical farming and self-contained water purification to feed, house and support a healthy and productive population of 1,444,000 on-site residents. Coupling architectural concepts from Pablo Solari with existing technologies that have been independently researched by Marshal T. Savage as well as Jacques Fresco of The Venus Project, the construction of this innovative, self-contained master metropolis, when properly engineered, fabricated and installed, will present a threshold opportunity in cutting edge, eco-friendly solutions for global food, housing, energy, commerce and agriculture while maintaining environmental integrity.
As a professional artist, designer, casino painter and journeyman muralist, Jack Alexander has a demonstrated expertise in conceptual model making and an established ability to communicate ideas orally, in writing, and in 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional visual formats. I am available to collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, landscape architects, urban planners, design teams and/or commissioning agencies to finalize landscape, hardscape and amenity plans in relation to this design and/or numerous variations on a similar theme.
If the exhibition is as wilding succesfuly as anticipated, the museum looks forard to traveling the works to other venues throughout the country.
