Don is a freelance art director / graphic designer / photographer and marketing advertising consultant. Don has over 50 years of creative experience. He continues to create concepts for print advertising, campaigns, brochures and logos for some as Sarasota’s finest -The City of Sarasota, Sarasota Ballet, Senior Friendship Centers, Center for Sight, Wellcraft, United Way of Manatee, Deborah Vinton School of Ballet, VASA, The Salvation Army, West Coast Civic Ballet & Rockefeller Center New York. Florida Hospital Zephyrhills, and USF Health Byrd Alzheimer’s Institute.
In 1990 - he opened Briggs & Adamec Advertising. Serving clients - University Park Country Club, Rosedale, River Wilderness, Center for Sight, Riscorp, Coastal Credit Union, Kantor Eye, Blake Hospital, St Andrews North, Woodland Village, Lake Pointe Woods, Edgewater Point, The Shores of Bradenton, Tropicana, Manatee County Conventions Bureau, Uniroyal, Mathews Curry Ford, Boatworks, and Champs Sporting Goods.
In 1983 - 1988 moved to Jacksonville, FL., from New York. He could not pass up the opportunity to work for “Yankee” George Steinbrenner. As VP Creative Director of Florida City Publishing, his responsibilities were supervising a staff of 21, concepting, art directing, and complete design of 3 new monthly lifestyle magazines, one for Jacksonville, Tampa, and Orlando. Consulted with Director of Scouting Larry Csonka of the Jacksonville Bulls logo design, and tournament Chairman Fuller Tresca of the TPC, Tournament Players Club
1988 In 1988 - Don relocated to Sarasota from Jacksonville. Joined Clarke Advertising & Public Relations as VP Creative Director, creating for clients - Sarasota Bank, Manatee Eye Clinic, Liberty National Bank, Fortress Anchors, and Manatee County Film Commission.
1978 In 1978 - 1983 he opened Adamec Advertising Inc. with a client roster from pharmaceutical giants to McDonald’s, Heart Fund of New York, Lincoln Center of the Performing Arts, Brennan, Beer, Gorman Architects /Interiors, Rockefeller Center Development, Joseph Loring Consulting Engineers.
1970 In 1970 - 1978 After selling Adamec Advertising, Don was asked to head up the editorial department at Ladies Home Journal Magazine. As Vice President and Creative Art Director, he created an exciting new graphic concept unique in the publishing field. For seven years, he art directed, designed, the complete magazine. He supervised a staff of 34 and worked closely with the Beauty, Fashion, Decorating and Food editors, many of the nation’s leading photographers artists, illustrators and. He has rubbed shoulders with celebrities such as Mary Tyler Moore, Frank Sinatra, Robert Redford, Liza Minnelli, President Gerald Ford, Brooke Shields, Bruce Jenner and Barbara Walters - just to name a few.
