Since we travel too much to have our own dog, we decided to help socialize a Southeastern Guide Dog Puppy a couple of years ago. K-T, the best dog we've ever known, is now guiding a wonderful furniture restorer and chair caner in Virginia. That was one of the hardest things ever to do...to give up K-T, after we'd taken her on 10 different airplane rides, trains, buses and even the DC Metro! When we took her to a black tie dinner in Chicago, no one even knew she was in the room, till we got up to leave! After her first time "finding the door" at the hotel out there, she took me straight to our hotel room, every time! I would have still been lost in the maze of rooms.
We are waiting for another chance to help raise a guide dog puppy, and in the meantime we dog sit, here in our home. You might see us handing out invitations to Grandy's Camp at the Farmers' Market on Saturday mornings, but...only to doggies that we like the looks of! One of our favorites is here by my feet as I type, while his mommy and daddy are in Italy for two weeks! Give us a holler if you'd like your pooch spoiled here.
The Yuppy Puppy will get a visit from our visitor so he'll be all clean and shiny when his folks return next week.

Hi sister pet lovers. The cutie in the picture is my dog, Bandit. I'm an author and speaker. My book, What My Dog Taught Me About God, is about Bandit and how he has enriched my life and taught me so much about God's love for all His creatures. I speak at pet groups, civic groups, churches, and the like. If you have ever had a Shih Tzu in your life, you will completely understand my devotion to Bandit. He is a terrific little pal. Puppy pictures of him are on the website www.booksbylemontree.com. When you see his "baby pictures," you will understand why it was love at first sight!
