20 MINUTES TO FITNESS ADDS NUTRITION PROGRAM
(Sarasota, FL)…20 Minutes to Fitness, the semi-private strength training studio that offers a unique, medically-based, training protocol (known as “slow cadence”), has added a nutrition program as part of its on-going focus on preventing health problems caused by the loss of muscle mass as people age.
“With the public concern about the growing cost of health care, our country is much more aware of the importance of prevention - which is the ultimate goal of our fitness protocol,” states President and Co-owner, Virginia Phillips.
“We counsel our clients to focus on those key elements of a healthy life, which includes maintaining strong muscles as well as proper nutrition,” states co-owner, Al Roach. “Now that our strength program is well under way with continuing research showing the prevention (and remission) of health issues such as osteoporosis, arthritis, Type II diabetes, and some forms of cancer, we felt it was time to add our nutrition program. The 20 Minutes to Fitness nutrition program is not only available to existing 20 Minutes to Fitness clients, but to the general public as well.”
The 20 Minutes to Fitness Nutrition Program starts with a free introductory session with a Nutrition Manager. If a person elects to participate, the program continues with an initial one hour consultation and five additional half hour sessions where the Nutrition Manager will:
Ø Assess a participant’s current condition conducting a body composition analysis to identify health risks and establish a foundation to develop a personalized, science-based nutrition (meal) plan.
Ø Determine the participant’s personal goals – to include the specific steps necessary for a lifetime of healthy nutrition.
Ø Prepare a comprehensive, doable plan to attain those goals.
Ø Provide on-going counseling during the six week program.
The 20 Minutes to Fitness Nutrition Mangers are Melanie Kasper and Cathy English, RN, who have received the Nutrition Specialist and Nutrition Manager certifications through the American Academy of Sports Dietitians and Nutritionists (AASDN).
20 Minutes to Fitness uses a scientifically-based, safe fitness approach known as "slow-cadence" (or slow motion) strength training. Working on specialized physical therapy equipment, participants lift weights in a series of ultra slow movements, causing the muscles to work harder and producing far better, faster results (50 to 59% better) than traditional strength training. This medically-based system is proven to actually slow down and prevent the physical and health-related issues commonly associated with the aging process. Each client works with a certified Personal Fitness Coach who stays at their side, calibrating the equipment for them and leading them safely through each exercise.
