Are you happy with your health? Do you like the way you look? Chances are you skip meals and workouts because you are taking care of something or someone else. The average American workweek has increased to close to or over 50 hours per week, and I know you and I both probably work more than this some weeks. You would think with all the technology and access to information so quickly that our work life would be much easier. However, this quick access to emails and work projects has actually made it worse. Let's not forget about your family. Your kids either need a ride, money or food. There is always something to occupy your time. The problem is- 95% of the time it's for someone else! When do you make time for yourself to feel better or look better? How many times have you said, "I'll eat later," and before you know it, it's dinnertime? Or, "I will go for a bike ride later tonight," but you forgot the kids have practice and you have to take them or pick them up? Remember when the flight attendant says, "place your oxygen mask on first and then assist others?" Well, the same applies when it comes to your health and fitness. If you don't take care of yourself now, later in life you will pay for it. And by that time you are good to no one.
Sometimes you have to say no and focus on YOU. So, turn the laptop, twitterberry, crackberry, stupid little ear piece-berry and anything else that connects you to work, OFF! Your kids can wash their own clothes and clean their own room. It is now YOU time. Go for that ride, workout to your butts and guts video, eat, get a massage or whatever it is you need to do to focus on your health and wellness. You may think this is impossible. But it’s all routine and habit. Commitment to health and fitness doesn’t guarantee success, however lack of commitment guarantees falling flat on your face.
I love to hear success stories. Please email me and share your selfish (good selfish) experiences!
