I must confess that I had never heard of Camellia oil prior to receiving a collection of Julie Hewett Los Angeles makeup. So when I initially opened the package, my first reaction was “What’s this?” followed by “Why did she send this to me?” Now I can totally understand why anyone would want to pass the word about these Camellia oil products. My face loves drinking in the moisture of the Camellia Balm Pot, and it carries a glow long after applying the light-textured balm. I’ve even been substituting the balm for my usual moisturizers since it seems to do the trick.

Come to find out, Camellia oil has been a beauty secret in China for centuries due to its nourishing, moisturizing and protecting properties. And who wouldn’t want the wrinkle-free, smooth complexion of the Chinese? Camellia oil most closely resembles the same oil that is produced naturally by the skin. Hence, Camellia oil rapidly absorbs and benefits the skin much more than any other plant oil. It’s a natural antioxidant, loaded with minerals and vitamins A, B, C, E, K & P. It also protects from UV rays and prevents sunburn, freckles, age spots and wrinkles with its natural sun protection.

Listen to this testimonial: Prior to attending Sunday’s Suncoast Grand Prix boat races, I automatically applied the Camellia Balm to my face for moisturization, not even thinking of it as sun protection (since I didn’t know it provided it at the time). I later applied sun protection to my face as well as the rest of my body. Seven hours later, I left the beach with a sunburned body, with the exception of my face! After reading about Camellia Balm, I solved the mystery of why my face wasn’t burnt while every other exposed body part was. Amazing!!

Here’s yet another case in testament. My elbow was dry and itchy, so I rubbed a little Camellia Balm on it. And immediately, no more dry and itchy feeling!

It’s a no-brainer that I love the Camellia Lip Balm as well. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring it along on my day at the beach—meaning my lips got burned. However, I’ve been applying it ever since and I’m convinced it’s the reason I don’t have peeling, chapped lips today even though my lips still feel burnt. Camellia Lip Balm comes packaged like a lipstick and is great tasting with essential oils of rose and orange. I wear it over penciled lips, under lipsticks or just all by itself. It’s no wonder this lip balm was named one of W magazine’s 7 best lip balms.

Camellia oil is an essential ingredient in many Julie Hewett products. It may well be the ingredient that makes me love the texture of the lipsticks and the Lip Lush gloss on my lips. The positive slant of this product review makes me feel compelled to reiterate that any review I give is an honest account of my experience. It just happens with these Julie Hewett products, that it’s all good.
