Those of us who complain about the lack of dancing opportunities in Sarasota had no reason to complain this week-end! The Vinyl Festival brought electronic music mixed by both world and locally renowned DJs to multiple venues, bringing the nightlife in Sarasota to life! Paul Mendez, Master Jay, Diamond, Drager, and DeeJay Barry were just a few of the names. It was one of those rare week-ends when you want to be everywhere at once, and the only frustration being that you can't do it all.
The rooftop of Kanaya proved to be the most amazing setting for Friday's party. More parties at this locale would be a great addition to the social scene. Amidst a gorgeous sunset with waterfront and downtown views, the music by Dalish and dancing were center stage. This prelude party to the evening proved to be incredibly well-organized by organizers Matt Orr and Rich Swier, with Matt ensuring that guests quenched their thirst by pouring drinks himself. Guests went on to hop from venue to venue and dance the night away. And the weekend was set in high motion!
It was clear from the reaction, this is a festival that those of us who love music and dance are hungry for. Hopefully, this will be the first of many Vinyl Festivals to come. Kudos to Matt and Rich for bringing it here, making our city actually seem progressive for a week-end!
