In today's economy we are all making financial cut backs, including trips to the beauty salon. Women are starting to turn to that handy color box at your local drug store. While some women have luck with their choice of color, most don't find that their hair looks like the lady on the box and end up feeling unhappy and frustrated. Well I have some good news! You don't need to leave your hairdresser to save a buck!
Hairdressers today are being trained on how to help their clients prolong their color appointment and keeping their color lasting longer. Which in the long run save you money and the stress of at home coloring. Here are some helpful tips on keeping that beautiful salon color bright and lasting longer.
1. First inform your hairdresser that you will need to start prolonging your color or haircut appointment. Don't be shy about it either, your hairdresser would rather you stay in the salon and maybe not visit as often, rather then leaving them all together.
2. If you are currently coloring your hair a completely different color then your natural hair color, then I would advise you to switch to a simpler shade. Going closer to the natural hair color makes your upkeep more economical. Now, if you are one who can't part with the lighter color you've been receiving switch to highlights.
3. Are you currently receiving highlights and don't like how ofter your having to stop in at the salon? This is an easy fix! Ask your hairdresser to either lessen the amount of highlights they put in but concentrate on brighter pieces around the face. By lessening the amount of highlights that are put in, you will start to find that your re-growth won't be as severe and it will keep you looking fresh! Or you could have your hairdresser highlight underneath your partings allowing you to still have the highlight effect but without visible regrowth.
4. Regardless of what type of color you get you need to make sure that you are using a Sulfate-Free Shampoo, such as Pureology, Brocoto, Phyto-Organics, or Aquage just to name a few. The sulfates that are in shampoo strip your color out and within a week you will notice that your color will start to look faded and washed out. This is a simple adjustment in your beauty regimen to help you prolong your beautiful salon color.
These are just a few suggestions to you, because in the end if you don't feel beautiful and confident in yourself it projects to everyone around you. And we have all experienced a bad hair day and know how it makes us feel. So leave your hair coloring to the professionals as they know best!
