Fab Find: Eco-Panda Swimwear & FREE Giveaway!!
Living in sunny Southwest Florida, swimwear is a major wardrobe essential. Finding swimwear that is environmentally friendly, fashionable, and affordable has not been easy…until now. Los Angeles based Eco-Panda combines groundbreaking technology and fashion-forward designs that will blow your mind!
A combination of recycled nylon with Creora Chlorine resistant spandex, each piece of swimwear will retain its shape and fit longer than other swimwear. Their recycling process uses post consumer nylon nets. After being treated to remove impurities they are then chopped into smaller nylon chips. The recycled nylon chips are then liquefied, creating fibers that are knit and/or woven into fabric. Pretty ingenious right?! It might sound like a lot of technical babble, but I appreciate that Eco-Panda shares this information on their website; I love their eco-transparency.
By using recycled nylon, Eco-Panda helps sustain the environment for future generations by diminishing greenhouse gas emissions that lead to global warming. In fact recycled nylon uses 27% less natural petroleum resources, and emits 28% less greenhouse gases.
All that aside, personally it’s the softest material I’ve had against my skin! Even the 100% natural polyester lining feels like soft cotton! The actual swimwear material feels like expensive cashmere and yet Eco-Panda swimwear is extremely affordable. My favorite pick from the Mandalay Collection is the black & white/coral floral print Halter Bra with side tie bottom; the two piece set sells for $76, or purchase separately for only $38 each! Such a deal! Their terry cover-ups are also extremely soft made with 70% natural polyester and 30% organic cotton. My fav terry Halter dress sells for an affordable $42 bucks.
It’s also apparent to me that Ian West, head designer for Eco-Panda, is truly committed to quality and craftsmanship; the designs are fresh and unique, and are comfortable to wear without any unnecessary scratchy stitching to ruin a perfectly good frolic in the sun and surf!
