Sarasota is plethora of small business owners, and its one of the things I love about our community. But, as I meet with more and more business owners I find that they have no identity. As the owner of a graphic and web design company this is quite frustrating. We have seen a great brand take companies to the top of their game, while a company with no brand struggles to find its way.

So . . . what do I mean by brand. Your brand is everything you are. It is your mission, your customer service, visually it is your logo, advertising messages, website, even your emails are part of your brand.

With a clear idea of your mission and what you are trying to achieve with your business you can successfully make decisions that keep your brand in focus.

As far as visually, develop a logo, a color scheme, and tag lines. Then be consistent; use these items repeatedly in your business cards, your ads, your facebook page, your website and anywhere else you might be seen or heard.

What are some great examples of brand? Nationally Target, Apple and Nike are among the top. Locally, the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, the Film Festival, and Ringling Museum.
