Many of you are regular exercisers. If you are, you're obviously doing your body a big favor.

In addition to making one look and feel better, one of my favorite natural health sources, Dr. Anthony Mercola, says exercise actually stimulates the production of new brain cells by downregulating a chemical that inhibits them. In this same article, which you can find here, Mercola also cites studies showing how we can UNDO all our gains by eating sugar within 2 hours of exercising.

One of the worst violators is fructose, which is found in so many fruit drinks and other products. According to Mercola, studies show fructose not only decreases insulin sensitivity - the underlying problem of Diabetes - but also represses the natural production of Human Growth Hormone. Now who wants that?

In the past, Mercola has emphasized eating more protein than carbohydrates as a snack or meal after exercising.
