So many beauty spots and beauty professionals want to join in on the popular eyelash extension service boom but many misunderstand or misrepresent the service they offer as eyelash extensions when it truly isn’t.

The term “eyelash extension” came into common use with the introduction of single synthetic lashes, designed to replicate, in look and feel, a natural eyelash and applied on an individual basis, one synthetic lash to one natural lash. By definition, an eyelash extension is the “extension” of a single “eyelash”.

This is an eyelash extension, before it is applied:

These are NOT eyelash extensions:

If you book a service for “eyelash extensions”, make sure you know what you are getting. If you find a place offering this service for a really low price, often you are getting flares (otherwise known as tabs or cluster lashes) or “individual” lashes (which are actually 3 stacked lashes), not true eyelash extensions. As the old saying goes, “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.”
