Who Play Matchmaker
Author: Chris Imamshah
One of the most annoying things your friends can do is try to play matchmaker with you and someone else. We know they might mean well, but often times the situation is very awkward for both people involved. But sometimes playing matchmaker may be necessary, some people are just extremely shy and have a hard time approaching people and talking to them. The one thing you want to make sure of is that your friends know the kind of people you get along with and the kind that you don't, so that way they don't go trying to set you up with just anybody who's single and available. Make sure you tell your friends these guidelines before they decide to play matchmaker with you and someone else, you'll be glad you did.
Make sure the person they set you up with is about something:
If your friends insist on playing matchmaker then make sure you tell them to match you up with somebody who has something going on for themselves. You don't want to end up being matched up with a loser who has nothing going on in their life. But of course if your friends are real friends then they would never dream to match you up with somebody who they know is completely incompatible for you. Your friends can be well-meaning and they might disregard this request, this may be because they feel like you’re so desperate to find somebody that they'll simply find someone else in the same situation and try to set them up with you expecting you to be happy to be finally meeting someone. They should understand that just because you’re single doesn't mean you're desperate. So make sure you tell your friends who play matchmaker no losers please.
Make sure that they are at least mildly attractive:
Tell your friends if they're going to play matchmaker to make sure they set you up with someone who is at least mildly attractive. No matter how much of a good person that date might be, if you’re not attracted to him or her then nothing is going to develop. You don't want your friends setting you up with someone who no one else finds desirable. This may seem incredibly shallow, but it’s just human nature, you have to be attracted to the person you’re going out with, otherwise it’s going to be hard to pretend to like them if you know nothing is going to come of it. Your friends should understand this though, but just in case they don't make sure you remind them.
Trust that your friends mean well when they try to play matchmaker for you. They only want to see you happy with someone they feel you’ll get along with. But that’s still no reason not to tell them the above listed conditions if they're going to be playing matchmaker for you.
