Can Help You Lose Weight

How you think about yourself can influence your weight loss
. While many overweight people suffer from a low self-confidence, learning to love yourself while losing weight can help you to lose weight more easily. Often overweight people will resort to comfort eating whenever negative feelings threaten to overwhelm the individual. Learning to love your own body and boosting your self-confidence can help you to avoid the fattening comfort foods and can help you to lose weight.

Most overweight people do not like the image reflected in the mirror. However, everyone has some positive aspects, as well as negative ones. Learning to love your body is about learning to focus on the positive aspects of your own body and life. Look at yourself in the mirror and try smiling. Do you have lovely white, even teeth, or does your smile light up your entire face? This is a positive thought you can hold onto when you need a boost in your self-confidence.

It is better to look in the mirror and say to yourself, “Okay, there are some things I would like to change, and I am working on those things, such as losing weight. However, I have a wonderful smile, eyes that attract attention, and luxurious hair, so I can feel good about myself today.” When you feel positive about yourself, you are much more likely to maintain your efforts in losing weight.

A positive thought about yourself could even motivate you to go for that walk, get on your exercise bike, or run a mile on your treadmill.
Thinking positively about yourself will help you to resist temptation and may stop you reaching for your traditional comfort food, that chocolate bar, packet of chips, or piece of cake.

Many people first started putting on weight due to a loss of self-confidence. Unfortunately, being overweight can only add to the problem. If you are overweight, the hardest part about losing weight can be changing the way you think about yourself. Finding a psychological balance that allows some positive thinking will automatically increase your own self-image and aid your self-control.

Setting realistic goals and celebrating your achievements can give you the mental spark to keep going on your weight loss plan
. Every time you do lose weight, give yourself a pat on the back and celebrate the achievement. This adds to your self-confidence and happiness. Every time you think a positive thought and work towards breaking the cycle of living with a low self-esteem, you are more likely to continue to lose weight.

The way you view your body and your life can have a tremendous impact on your weight, especially if you are prone to try to make yourself feel better by substituting comfort foods for negative emotions. Give yourself a mental break by focusing on the positive for a change, and see if you are more motivated to continue to lose weight. Even reading this article is a step in the right direction, so give yourself a pat on the back right now, and then continue in your weight loss efforts.

This is a great article! I can relate to a lot of it in my own experience. About a year ago we had taken a family photo and when I saw how I looked, I went into shock and depression. I finally took charge of myself and got the courage to do something about my weight. You have to be ready and really WANT to do it. Positive thinking works wonders!
A friend told me about Take Shape for Life, which is the coaching arm of Medifast and I made the best decision to go for it. I lost 34 pounds and went from a Size 12 to a size 2. The funny thing is that when people see my before and after picture, they don't remember me being that heavy. I lost the equivalent of 3 - 11 pound bowling balls! Because of my incredible experience, I feel better than I have in years.
I am now a health coach for Take Shape for Life and I totally believe in this program. It was only offered by physicians up till 8 years ago! It is NOT a "diet", but a program that will get you slimmed down and teach you Habits of Health that you will use the rest of your life. If you are interested in learning more, give me a call at 941-400-2490 or my website is www.thinkhealthnow. I LOVE helping people reach their goals and GET HEALTHY!!!
