Fit Tip- Get out of your comfort zone.

Exercising is tough, and it can be intimidating. You’ve heard it before- if it were easy, everyone would be in phenomenal shape. But it’s not, so we work hard to improve our heart health, tighten our abs and walk with a little more confidence.

In order to accomplish this, sometimes you have to do things you are not very good at. Usually we steer clear of these exercises or activities. For example, most people hate lunges. Why? I don’t know… maybe it’s the constant burn of the quads. However, if done right, lunges are one of the best exercises you can do to tighten your quads and glutes.

Or, what’s holding you back from running a 5k event? It’s probably because you are afraid of failure. Most people won’t start because they think just because they can’t run 3 miles today; they won’t be able to 8 weeks from now. Get out of your comfort zone and try. Running isn’t hard… first you walk, then you walk faster, then you start moving your legs and arms faster and before you know it… you are running! You will feel like a little kid the first day off the training wheels.
Whether it’s running or doing pushups, add something into your routine that you are not good at. Who knows- you may enjoy it or become great at it!

*A fitness evaluation should be administered before attempting an exercise program. A fitness professional can customize your training heart rate based on your goals and fitness level.
