Maybe the economy is getting a little better. I know many people who have had to scramble to keep above water. So there will be a recovery and jobs and real estate sales will improve. While there is still less business, this is a good time to look ahead and think of ways you can position your business for the recovery. I'd like to hear what some of your are thinking about this idea. Here is a real life example.

One of my (4) sons has a kitchen countertop business in Harrisburg, PA. Stone tops have been good to him, but it's slow. The city has no major college or uniiversity. Why say that?

Universities make a town recession proof, look at Gainsville in FL, and in PA check out State College, home of Penn State. One of the brothers, he has an MBA, lives there, so maybe this would be the perfect time to open a branch of the kitchen business in that location.

That is one version of repositioning. How about your business? Share some ideas.

My business, eyelash extensions, has slowed down with the economy. However, I haven't stopped networking or getting the word out lash extensions.

Maybe the "slow time" this pre-snowbird season is a time to really hone in on exactly what your target market might be. Take a look at some of the blogs and forums in your target to see what people are talking about.

For me, business is showing a definite uptick. Business owners themselves are examining all aspects of their marketing, pr, web presence etc. and putting some of their resources in the local geographic area.
