Lately people have been asking me whether advertising really works. The answer is Yes and No.
Advertising actually does work BUT not for every kind of business and especially not if your company is advertising in the wrong place.
If advertising didn't work nobody would do it.
If you want to advertise the first question you should ask is "who is my target market?" and then you should go from there to find out what the best way to advertise is to reach that market. Print? Radio? TV? In store placement? Internet? What do they like to watch, read, or do? Where do they spend time? What do they buy? What are their core values?
Once you narrow down where to advertise you'll need to take it a step further and narrow it down (unless you have a humongous budget).
It is a lot to digest so get a marketing consultant to help you. I recommend an independent marketing consultant as opposed to an ad agency. They can advise you and help you find your way to good clear decisions that lead to effective advertising.
