Some people like to hand out referrals like candy on Halloween. Others never do it even if they love your product or service. The former give them away so much that people might not trust them. Maybe they are recommending someone or some thing that they really don't have experience with so they can stay in a leads group that encourages referrals. Real referrals are much better but how do you get more?
- ASK! Yes, ask by telling them that you appreciate referrals
- TELL them to be specific about why they like your product or service. That way the person getting the information about you knows it is believable and not just a wild referral.
- SHOW them you appreciate the referral, send a note, gift certificate, gift card, flowers, send money, take them out for coffee or lunch.
- DO it consistently and you're sure to get more
To limit expenses I recommend rewarding referrals that actually lead to business as long as it doesn't violate any policies in your organization it is worth it.
Have an awesome week,
